My longest standing relationship yet
Today I honour the longest-standing relationship that I’ve ever had - the one with Yoga as the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.
For 20 years the landscape of fitness trends has evolved mercilessly, but I haven’t wavered.
Yoga started out as a form of recovery from running for me when I was age 19, and even though my practice has gone through peaks and troughs and evolved to transcend the deeper layers of my being, I have never abandoned it, and it continues to be the solace my soul seeks.
My liberation practice has taught me devotion and discipline. It has given me the deep roots into the stable earth to remain unshaken like a graceful and aged tree, to weather the seasons of love and loss in life and to trust that when the storm blows past the sun will always shine again.
It has shown me compassion in times of weakness and injury, and given me wings to soar beyond what I can mentally comprehend because I am able to practise silence and stillness to listen deeply when my intuition speaks.
Through my yoga practice my life has changed; and where I have been so blessed to share it, I have planted seeds for the lives of others to experience change too.
I bow humbly to the light in my teachers, students and fellow yogis - happy international day of yoga.
Much love, Gabrielle
